Module 6: Isarithmic Mapping

 Module 6: Isarithmic Mapping

Isarithimic maps are thematic maps that are used to show continuous phenomena over an area. The lab assignment this week was designed to demonstrate the different methods such data can be classified (Continuous Tone vs Hypsometric Tint). This lab also allowed practice using data interpolated via PRISM interpolation method, using raster data, manually classifying data, creating contours, and creating a finished map.

The map below shows the average annual rainfall for Washington state based on 30 years of data. Data is manually classed and symbolized using hypsometric tints. The paragraphs alsong the bottom of the map educate the end user about how the map was created.
